INTRODUCTIONBORDEAUX 2007As usual, the Bordeaux primeur campaign takes a little while to get moving. We are, however, expecting a fairly rapid gain in momentum over the next couple of weeks. With the publication of Robert Parker's latest 'Wine Advocate' imminent, we will soon have the full picture of how all the prominent critics view the 2007 Bordeaux vintage. Mid-June sees the start of the Bordeaux wine industry's largest event, Vinexpo (a massive biennial trade exhibition); by which time we anticipate the vast majority of chateaux will have released prices. That just gives us about six weeks, so the clock is ticking. Having spent a week in Bordeaux tasting all the major chateaux and many of the minor ones too, we believe that there will be plenty of opportunities to interest both the drinker and the investor in this vintage. BWI owner, Andy Lench, summarised the vintage thus "Sometimes it's a good thing when expectations are low, as there is plenty of room for pleasant surprises. It was not so much a surprise that the 'usual suspects' made the best wines, but that the best wines are as good as they are".
